Welcome to this week's Digimon news roundup for August 22, 2026. We are covering major updates across the physical card game, mobile crossovers, and upcoming digital releases. Whether you are a competitive card slinger or a mobile gamer, there is plenty of news to catch up on this week.

Massive Digimon Card Game Banlist and Legality Updates

Bandai has announced a major Banned and Restricted list update for the Digimon Card Game, set to take effect on September 1, 2026. To slow down the game's accelerating pace, Nyaromon (BT15-003) is completely banned due to its rapid security-trashing memory gain in yellow decks. Additionally, the tamer card Sayo and Koh (EX5-065) is banned to eliminate an infinite turn-ending loop involving Zubamon (P-097).

Other restrictions limit 'Growlmon' (EX8-012, X Antibody) and Analog Youth (EX1-066) to one copy per deck. Bandai has also introduced banned pairs: you can no longer run 'Mother D-Reaper' (EX2-007) alongside Shoto Kazama (EX7-064). Furthermore, Taomon (BT17-035) and Sakuyamon (EX8-037, X Antibody) cannot be paired in any deck that utilizes 'Chaosmon: Valdur Arm' (BT20-037). In other card news, cards from the Limited Card Pack FINAL CREST [LM-08] will not be legal for official tournament play until September 4, 2026, ensuring global competitive fairness.

AFK Journey Crossover and Digimon UP Refunds

On the mobile front, the AFK Journey x Digimon Adventure crossover event is officially live from August 18 through September 15, 2026. Players can claim two free S-Level crossover heroes: Taichi and Agumon, alongside Yamato and Gabumon. These characters feature a unique Digivolution mechanic, allowing them to transform into 'WarGreymon' and 'MetalGarurumon' upon using their Ultimate skill for the first time in battle.

Meanwhile, players of the newly released mobile game Digimon UP have a very tight window to request DigiDiamond refunds. Following balance adjustments to the SP Support Aegiochusmon character, Bandai Namco has opened a support form. Affected players must submit their refund requests before the window closes on August 25, 2026.

Digimon Alysion Release Window Hints

Finally, community discussions surrounding the upcoming official card game simulator, Digimon Alysion, suggest a late Q4 2026 release. While Bandai Namco has kept quiet on a concrete launch date following closed beta feedback, the physical starter decks ST-25 and ST-26 featuring 'Rubeusdramon' and 'Yukinamon' are scheduled for December 2026. This strongly points to a coordinated late-year launch for the digital simulator.
