Welcome to this week's Pokémon news roundup for September 2, 2026. Following the recent World Championships and the inaugural PokémonXP fan convention, we have a massive wave of updates spanning mobile, console, and tabletop gaming. Here is everything you need to know to stay ahead of the meta this week.

Scarlet and Violet Tera Raids Ending Soon First on the agenda is an urgent reminder for console players. The final leg of the Paldea Power Play event series is wrapping up very soon. Players have until September 3, 2026, at 23:59 UTC to challenge the formidable 7-Star Dark Tera-type 'Kingambit' in Black Crystal Tera Raids.

To defeat this powerful Kingambit, we recommend assembling a strong Fighting-type counter team utilizing heavy hitters like Iron Hands or Great Tusk. Additionally, make sure to check out the active boosted mass outbreaks of Pawniard, Bisharp, and Kingambit carrying the Charismatic Mark before the event concludes.

Pokémon GO Twilight Trails and Mega Mewtwo On the mobile front, Pokémon GO has officially transitioned into its new Twilight Trails season. The headline event is the upcoming GO Fest 2026 Mega Finale running from September 5 to September 6. This event marks the return of Mega 'Mewtwo' X on Saturday and Mega 'Mewtwo' Y on Sunday in Super Mega Raids with no remote raiding limits.

Ahead of the weekend, players can participate in the Mega Ascension lead-up event running through September 4. This event features branching Timed Research where you can encounter Kalos starter Pokémon. Be sure to clear out your storage space and stock up on Remote Raid passes to prepare for the massive Mewtwo raids.

TCG 30th Celebration and UNITE Updates Looking ahead to tabletop gaming, The Pokémon Company has announced a historic expansion set called Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration, launching on September 16, 2026. To combat import scalping, this set will feature a synchronized global release across Japan, North America, and other territories. Every card in the five-card booster packs will be foil, and the set includes thirty unique variations of 'Pikachu' rare cards.

Meanwhile, Pokémon UNITE is expanding its roster. Revealed at the World Championships, 'Morpeko' will join as a Speedster on September 4, followed by 'Toxtricity' as an Attacker on September 24. With Flareon and Jolteon scheduled for October, players will finally be able to play all eight Eevee evolutions in the game.

Lifestyle Tech and Animation Finally, the PokémonXP convention revealed exciting multimedia projects. A new Disney exclusive animated series, Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of 'Sirfetch'd' and 'Pichu', is scheduled for late 2026 or 2027. Additionally, a Fitbit Air Special Edition Pokémon Sleep wearable device was announced, bringing a new way to integrate your daily lifestyle with your favorite pocket monsters.
