Welcome to our latest Pokémon TCG meta and news roundup for October 7, 2026. The competitive landscape is undergoing massive shifts following the second wave of the 30th Celebration special expansion and the first official previews of the upcoming Mega Evolution—Delta Reign set. With major regional tournaments wrapping up, players are adapting to a dynamic Standard format where new contenders are rising to challenge the established tier-one decks.
30th Celebration Wave 2 and Delta Reign Previews
The highly anticipated 30th Celebration special expansion received its secondary product wave on October 2, 2026, bringing Mini Tins, Booster Bundles, and the Deck Crafter's Collection to store shelves. This set features powerful cards like Mewtwo ex, Mew ex, Umbreon ex, and dozens of unique Pikachu cards that are now fully legal for tournament play. Meanwhile, official previews for the next major expansion, Mega Evolution—Delta Reign, have officially begun ahead of its November 6 release. Players have already caught glimpses of 'Mega Rayquaza ex', Hypno with its Mind Ruler attack, Kecleon with Colorful Whip, and the versatile Supporter card 'Aarune'.
October Meta Shifts and Standard Format Status
On the competitive front, Dragapult ex remains the undisputed deck to beat, commanding a massive thirty-three percent of the meta share after regionals in Frankfurt and Brisbane. However, the newly legal cards have shaken things up, with Mega Lopunny ex emerging as a major winner from the latest set. Other tier-one archetypes like Alakazam paired with Dusknoir or Dudunsparce, Slowking, and N's Zoroark ex continue to hold strong. Fortunately for competitors, Play! Pokémon has confirmed that the Standard format remains completely healthy with zero banned cards, continuing to enforce the H regulation mark and onwards after the rotation of staples like Iono and the Arven package.
To stay ahead of the competition, players should focus on securing competitive staples like Mew ex from the newly released 30th Celebration Booster Bundles. You should also prepare for the upcoming Mega Evolution—Delta Reign prerelease events starting in late October to test out 'Mega Rayquaza ex'. Finally, if you are heading to upcoming regionals in Louisville, Nice, or Puebla, make sure to tech your deck to respect the bench-damage spread of Dragapult ex or practice piloting the rising Mega Lopunny ex counter-strategies.
